Evermore by Alyson NoelbrEver was a normal high school girl living a pretty good life. But, ever since Ever was in a car accident which killed her parents and sister, she could hear peoples thoughts, see auras, and a persons life story just from touching someone. Thinking shes crazy, she tries to shut herself out from everyone by becoming an outcast at school. But everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste. Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition. He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets. Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what shes thinkingand hes the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head. She doesnt know who he really isor what he is. Can she trust him?brbrUglies series by Scott WesterfeldbrIts hard to explain but its about the future, after mankind basically destroyed the earth global warming, destroying forests, polluting, etc survivors made a new society where theres no argueing, war, etc. Everyone is considered quotuglyquot until they turn and have this sugery that makes them quotprettyquot and they move to this part of town where all they do is have fun and party all day and night. Tally cant wait to turn pretty. She meets Shay whos a rebal and convinces Tally to leave the city for a night to see whats out in the wilderness. Tally learns all kinds of things about being pretty and the truth is.. its not really pretty. EXTREMELY good, and the sequals are even better. Its full of adventures, cool technologies, romance, etc. brbrThe Hunger Games by Suzanne CollinsbrThis book is also set in the future and gets pretty intense. Its setting is in Panem, a city thats now in whats left of North America which has become smaller after global warming and melting of the ice caps. Surrounding Panem are districts where each year, one boy and girl between the ages of and are chosen to be in the Hunger Games where they are put into an arena and battle each other and try to survive until theres only one left and is the winner. Theres also some romance in it. One of my favorite booksbrbrDeadly Little Secrets by Laurie StolarzbrIts the first of its series and is also really good. Its about a girl named Camelia who lives a normal life dating, has friends, decent grades. But, one day when she was picking an earing that she dropped crossing the street, a car was coming towards her and it wasnt stopping. Suddenly, a hot guy shoves her out of the way, saving her life. He left without her saying thank you or asking what his name was. Three months later, shes starting her junior year in high school and theres this rumor about a new guy named Ben who supposedly killed his girlfriend. Really intense but good with a twisted love triangle.brbrKissed by an Angel by Elizabeth ChandlerbrWell, its kind of three books in one. Its suppose to be about this guy, Tristian, and this girl, Ivy, who are crazy about each other. What is your favorite musical instrument?

Question

What is your favorite musical instrument?

Answer

The human voice, when mastered, is the Godgiven and most musical and beautiful instrument ever. But the flute is also one of the most amazing instruments. Violins I find astounding too. I love the sound of the violin and cello. I wish I could play them. But the flute is so light and beautiful, and the violin and cello have this unique quality about them. There tone seems so versatile, soft and beautiful one minute but then dark and dangerous the next while the next moment it switches to exciting and adventurous. brbrBut ya gotta love the flute! Ok, so I may be a little biased since I play the flute, but you have to admit, it is beautiful

How i wish everyone of us live in a Utopian Society but why is this not feasible?

Question

How i wish everyone of us live in a Utopian Society but why is this not feasible?
Will this remain a dream of the philosophers?

Answer

im not sure if i can trully call myself a philosopher, but if i were qualified to cosider myself one, i wouldnt be a member of that so calledutopian society. i use my ideals to face reality with an optimistic light, not to walk blindly on elysian fields. But i do commend the idealists for imaginative thinking, for humanity would be coldly immobilized without them. We are told to never cross bridges till we come to it, but the world is owned by men who have crossed bridges in their imagination far ahead of the crowd.. they may have not crossed them eventually, but they have inspired other people to do so. brWe are all dreamers but not all of us act upon wisely to obtain what we dream of, and some are content to simply dream... but all i know, that the best way to make our dreams come true... is to wake up....

How is quotCHANGE of HEARTquot different from quotCHANGE of MINDquot?

Question

How is quotCHANGE of HEARTquot different from quotCHANGE of MINDquot?
if its possible to change ones mind, is it possible to change ones heart?

Answer

A change of heart goes deeper than a change of mind. It is a more radical change in the person. It is possible to change either, but harder to reverse a change of heart. Ones heart can be hardened in an instant, but his is usually following a course already laid out by many little steps along the way and choices the person has made. When Pharaohs heart was hardened in the Bible it led to him changing his mind, but it was all his previous vacillations that led to the hardening of his heart which God knew from the beginnning. Later in Isaiah it speaks of God trading a heart of flesh for a heart of stone. These passages imply that something more than human agency is involved in the radical change we speak of as a change of heart. The thoughts of the mind are far more fluid and disconnected than the emotions of the heart. Emotions are the things which move us from within, thoughts are the information sensory and otherwise which inform our actions or analyze their results. We own our emotions more than we do our thoughts. The heart is directional even when the mind is indifferent.

How important is it to keep our countrys history fresh in the minds of our youth?

Question

How important is it to keep our countrys history fresh in the minds of our youth?
In Singapore, we have history books that tell the stories of our forefathers, but is there value in doing other things to keep our past fresh and alive for the young, perhaps through cultural events and features like heritage trails? Share your thoughts with me.

Answer

Certainly history books are an invaluable source of information but then there can never be ONE comprehensive source. History is subjective it is subject to personal insights and individual perspectives but this is what makes it so interesting. What intrigues me about the countrys history is its living history how people lived, who they thought, behaved, related to one another in communities etc. in an given period of time. For me, much of what I am today is shaped by oral history courtesy of my elders as well as school teachers who had the benefit of living through tumultous times. Their perspectives and interpretations of actual events are always fresh and exciting to the listener. Of course actual living conditions are irretrievably past and I can only imagine scenarios based on old pictures and movies. The visual recreations at heritage centers and museums all help to consolidate the historical information. I would add that not all of these orators are educated like the year old Ah Ma at the nursing home I serve at.brbrHeritage trails are fine if heritage sites are preserved. Buildings, bridges, trees etc have history too. How many archaelogical sites do we have in Singapore? How many shipwrecks of historical value have been found around Singapore waters? etc.. Probably this information exists but its availability to the general public is still lacking. Historical knowledge is scant in the memories of our present generation. I feel education is key and not just confined to schoolgoing children but to the general public which includes our new citizens.brbrEducation campaigns ought to be undertaken by who better than custodians of our historical inheritance museums?! Instead of promoting exhibits of foreign culture and civilisations, more should be done to promote knowledge of our own cultures, heritage and history. I love the new setup at the National History Museum but most folks dont step inside. I feel the National Heritage Board has done really well promoting all facets of history but the challenge lies in bringing history to the doors of the common folk the grassroots. We have a wealth of history in our elderlies why arent they being tapped on? Should museums have roadshows then? Id personally like to know how my neighbourhood was like years ago, who lived here, what were the industries, how it looked like etc. I like interesting information like how Lavender got its name, or how the area beyond SGH was all graveyards and gambier plantations at the turn of the century and why it was called Bukit Merah. The adult generation growing into their middle ages stilll possess such memories but if theyre not passed down to the young, they will die off. brbrAnd why not have a village concept? Camps where the young, even families, actually go and live out the past way of life? Even Mr Jack Sim is building a longhouse for his toilet college to give his students a taste of third nation living, why not this? Nothing beats firsthand experience.brbrWhat about tracing your family roots as an activity? Are there resources available to the average citizen to do so? Activities like this not only makes history fresh and alive but promote bonding within the family as well.brbrIt may be an expensive endeavor but knowledge of our history is indispensable to our identity as Singaporeans it has shaped us thus far and is integral to us retaining our uniqueness as a people, in a nation that is evolving and changing in its ethnic makeup and ever increasing diversity. It informs us of the ingredients that glue us together to form the fabric of Singapore society. It is essential to our survival and future prosperity.

How important is it to be beautiful handsome?

Question

How important is it to be beautiful handsome?
Can a plain looking girl boy compete with a better looking girl boy with slightly less but adequate qualifications for the same job? Is it fair for menwomen to artificially enhance there looks to compete in the professional world?

Answer

looking good is not as important as being good!! it is true that the first attraction happens on the basis of looks but love grows on the basis of personality nobody will love a hardcore snobbish idiot as much as he or she would love someone actually lovable .... so keep repeating the first sentence over and over again
